Who has access to OKO?

Orthopaedic Knowledge Online is a benefit of membership in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons for persons in the following membership categories:

  • Active AAOS fellows
  • Candidate members
  • Resident members
  • International affiliate members
  • Associate members
  • Emeritus fellows

OKO is also available to others via a $168 annual subscription.

How do I access Orthopaedic Knowledge Online?

Subscribers must log on to the website each time they access it. The login page is www.aaos.org/oko. Instructions for logging on to the site can be accessed from this login page. Once each month, each user will be asked to read and sign a disclaimer in order to continue through the login process.

What software do I need to have on my computer to use OKO?

The sofware requirements for OKO are described on the Technical Requirements page.

How do I find the video?

On the menu pages, topics with video are labeled as such. In addition, you may view a list of all OKO videos. When you are logged into the web site, the list will be links to the individual video pages.

Do I need a broadband connection to view the video?

The streaming video is available in both broadband and 56k modem formats, however the broadband provides a much larger and clearer image. For optimum video viewing, it is very important to select the correct video for your Internet connection.

What do I do if the video does not play?

If you are having difficulty playing the video, first make sure that you have Windows Media Player installed on your computer. In a Windows environment, you can usually find the program by clicking on the Start menu, then selecting Programs/Accessories/Entertainment. If you do not have Windows Media Player, please refer to the Technical Requirements page for information on how to download this free software.
