Chronic Plantar Fasciitis With Neuritic Symptoms
by John S. Gould, MD

Plantar fasciitis is a mechanical form of heel pain. It is characterized by pain after a period of rest, such as with the first step in the morning, when a patient has been sitting for a period of time, or as the patient gets up and begins to walk again. Typically, there is immediate relief with nonweightbearing. This OKO topic focuses on chronic plantar fasciitis accompanied by neuritic symptoms and often marked by the presence of torn or ruptured plantar fascia.

A review of the literature is provided and a video demonstration of a posterior medial release for recalcitrant plantar fasciitis is shown.
