This slide lecture from a 2007 AAOS Annual Meeting symposium on the diagnosis and management of common patellofemoral problems focuses on the role of medial and anteromedial tibial tubercle transfer procedures in the treatment of patients with patellofemoral instability/pain associated with tubercle malalignment and arthrosis. Methods for assessing tubercle malalignment, including measurement of the Q-angle, tuberosulcus angle, and TT-TG distance, are discussed, and the indications, contraindications, surgical techniques, outcomes, and rehabilitation protocols for each procedure are described. Case studies and indications for combined distal and proximal realignment procedures are also presented.
