Soft-Tissue Balancing of the Total Knee Arthroplasty
by Christopher L. Peters, MD

After primary total knee arthroplasty, an unbalanced knee can be stiff, loose, and painful; can result in premature wear of the implant components, and may require early revision. In this slide lecture, Dr. Christopher L. Peters discusses ligament balancing in patients with varus and valgus deformity patterns after total knee arthroplasty. With extensive use of surgical technique video, Dr. Peters explains and illustrates medial release, bone preparation, trial reduction, and posterior capsule release in this patient population.
