Fractures of the distal humerus often result in elbow stiffness and there are many recent refinements of operative stabilization that have improved results. This OKO topic provides a comprehensive current review of distal humerus fractures in adults. Open reduction and solid internal fixation with plates is screws is the most common treatment, but these cases are always technically challenging. There are new surgical approaches to allow visualization without excessive dissection. There are new fixation devices including headless screws, bio-absorbable implants and anatomic-specific plates to facilitate fixation.
