Chap. 15 Video 10: ACL Reconstruction Using Achilles Allograft and Interference Screws

February 05, 2016

Contributors: Colin G Looney, MD; William I Sterett, MD

This video demonstrates the preparation and placement of an Achilles allograft for ACL reconstruction. The graft soaks in a solution of kanamycin and sterile saline, and is prepared on a graft preparation table. The bone plug is sculpted; and the graft is cut to size, marked, and the ends are whip stitched. Arthroscopy portal locations are demonstrated, and a notchplasty is performed. The tibial and femoral tunnels are drilled, the graft is inserted, and fixed at both ends with bone interference screws over guidewires. Flexion and extension are tested, and rehab is discussed.
