A heated debate is raging regarding the anatomy of the anterolateral capsule of the knee. Current literature provides a multiplicity of descriptions. Some researchers have argued that the capsule contains a ligament, others suggest it merely displays a thickening, while others still fail to show any distinguishable capsular structures. This video scientifically analyzes the current concepts on the anatomy, histology, biomechanics, and clinical relevance of the anterolateral capsule of the knee in anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction.
