Chapter 23 Video 1: Ankle and Cartilage Treatment in the Athlete

January 23, 2017

Contributors: Eric Giza, MD

Foot and ankle problems account for over 20% of the sports medicine injuries seen on the field of play, yet understanding of these problems is often limited to the fellowship trained foot and ankle surgeon. The primary objective of this symposia is to discuss the most common problems seen on field, the management of these problems, and the most advanced treatment options. This video discusses allograft cartilage ECM scaffold as an augment for microfracture. Technique and application is demonstrated, and case examples are discussed. Matrix-Induced Autologus Chrondrocyte Implantation is discussed.
