What is the Societal Value of TKA?
With all the attention on the cost of health care, an important factor is being overlooked: the impact on society resulting from the treatment of a particular condition. Comparing that impact when both surgical and nonsurgical treatments are available is particularly important in a specialty such as orthopaedics, which focuses on restoring mobility and health.

Almost everyone grumbles about the current state of airline travel, but physicians and others with medical training shoulder an additional potential challenge when flying: answering a call for assistance should a medical emergency arise in flight. In-flight medical emergencies are relatively rare.
AAOS and its four equity partners—the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, and the Orthopaedic Learning Center (OLC)—have broken ground on a new headquarters building, expected to house more than 25 specialty orthopaedic organizations and a state-of-the art OLC.
