This webinar will review the prevalence of discrimination, bullying, harassment, and microaggressions in medicine. Pearls on how to mentor and support trainees regardless of race, gender, and ethnicity will be provided. Tips on how to provide and receive negative feedback will be shared. Finally, leadership development skills will be reviewed.
At the conclusion of this webinar, learners should be able to:
· Participants will recognize the prevalence of discrimination, bullying, harassment, and microaggressions in medicine and will understand how these factors impact education/training, career trajectory/satisfaction and overall well being
· Participants will recognize individual and institutional initiatives to combat discrimination, bullying, harassment, and microaggressions
· Participants will learn how to provide and receive constructive (negative) feedback.
· Participants will recognize how to develop leadership skills amongst all young surgeons, regardless of background.
