Tarsal Coalition

Although tarsal coalition is uncommon, the condition can cause considerable pain and decreased motion of the midtarsal, subtalar, and tibiotalar joints. Immobilization and casting are implemented before surgery is attempted.

    Complications of Distal Metatarsal Osteotomy

    Malunion, nonunion, osteonecrosis, deformity recurrence, and infection are the most common complications associated with distal metatarsal osteotomy. Surgical treatment can include repositioning osteotomy and arthrodesis. Nonsurgical treatment can include elevation of the extremity, antibiotics, or activity and shoe modifications.
