In this journal-based CME activity, you will review decision making in the management of Kienböck Disease by following an evolving patient case scenario based on a recent article from the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (JAAOS).
After the reading, you will complete an assessment to test your orthopaedic knowledge, problem solving, and clinical decision-making skills.
As a result of completing this program, I am able to:
1. Review the pathoanatomy, etiology, and natural history of Kienböck disease.
2. Describe imaging studies and classification systems used for the diagnosis and staging of Kienböck disease.
3. Discuss nonsurgical treatment options for the management of Kienböck disease.
4. Explain the outcomes of surgical treatment options for the management of Kienböck disease, including core decompression, joint leveling/lunate unloading, lunate revascularization, and salvage procedures.
