Midshaft clavicle fractures are frequently encountered orthopaedic injuries. Considerable displacement is associated with a higher likelihood of nonunion and symptomatic malunion in patients who undergo nonsurgical treatment. Surgical fixation has been reported to decrease the rate of these adverse outcomes. This video describes the surgical treatment of a healthy patient whose occupation involves frequent overhead lifting. The video shows a physical examination, observing the deformity and scapular malpositioning secondary to his injury. The video then shows surgical preparation, exposure, reduction, and fixation with the use of lag screws, followed by stabilization with the use of a plate-and-screw construct. The video discusses the patient's outcome at follow-up of 2 weeks.
